Counselling and Support

Specialist therapy for depression and low mood. Helping you to understand what’s going on and find a way forward.

When Things Feel Flat, Heavy or Hard to Shift

Depression doesn’t always look the way people expect. It can be quiet, persistent, and difficult to explain. At The Nest Club, we offer specialist counselling for individuals experiencing depression or low mood. This might include feeling flat, unmotivated, emotionally detached, or weighed down by thoughts that are hard to move past. You may be finding it harder to engage with things you used to enjoy, struggling with energy or concentration, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. For some, depression feels constant. For others, it comes and goes, or sits just beneath the surface. Often, there is a sense of being stuck in something that feels difficult to shift, even when you want things to feel different. With the right support, it becomes possible to understand what’s contributing to how you feel and begin to find ways to move through it.

Specialist Depression Therapy- What to expect

Our therapists offer a space where you can talk openly about how things have been feeling, without pressure to explain it perfectly. You don’t need to have a clear reason for feeling low. Therapy focuses on understanding your internal experience, including thoughts, emotions, patterns, and how these may have developed over time. This might include exploring low mood, negative thinking, lack of motivation, or the impact of stress, relationships, or past experiences. The aim is not to push you to feel differently, but to help you understand what’s happening and begin to respond to it in a way that feels more manageable.

Depression Counselling FAQs

Common signs include persistent low mood, lack of motivation, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, changes in sleep or appetite, and feeling disconnected or numb. Depression can vary in intensity and presentation.

Depression counselling can help you understand what’s contributing to your low mood, explore underlying patterns, and develop ways of responding differently over time.

Many people don’t have a clear reason or know fully what's going on before starting therapy. Therapy helps you explore and understand your experience gradually.

Yes. All counselling at The Nest Club is confidential. What you discuss with your therapist stays private, except in the rare circumstances where there is a serious risk of harm, which follows standard professional safeguarding guidelines. Our aim is to create a space where you feel safe to speak openly and honestly.

Some people come for a small number of sessions to talk through a specific decision or experience. Others choose to continue for longer if they want more time to explore the emotional impact. Your therapist will work with you at your pace, and there’s no pressure to commit to a set number of sessions.
