About Margaret McLaren

I’m a seasoned Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 12 years’ experience working across NHS IAPT services and private healthcare settings. Throughout my career, I’ve supported a broad range of clients, including extensive work with perinatal and post-natal presentations in both public and private contexts. In addition, I am a Clinical Supervisor, which further strengthens my capacity to support both clients and fellow practitioners with thoughtful, reflective practice.

I offer a warm, grounded and empathetic therapeutic space where clients feel safe to explore what’s happening for them. Alongside evidence-based CBT interventions, I am passionate about helping people manage symptoms through practical lifestyle approaches that support sustainable change. I work collaboratively with clients to enhance mood and motivation, strengthen self-esteem, and cultivate self-compassion and resilience, particularly during periods of stress, uncertainty or transition.

I have a particular interest in supporting individuals through life’s pivotal moments, whether that’s parenthood, career change, burnout, or relationship shifts. My clinical supervisor is a perinatal specialist, which provides valuable insight and depth to my work in this area and ensures ongoing specialist guidance.

My areas of specialism include depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, burnout, PTSD, perinatal and post-natal mental health, and the psychological impact of significant life transitions.

I provide a warm and empathetic therapeutic space and am passionate about encouraging people to manage symptoms through learning lifestyle techniques to enhance their personal and professional growth.
